Vision
We the teachers in the department of philosophy desire to channelize the students through ethical purgation. If the values are not infused in them the main objective will be thwarted in building the social fibre in right direction. The vision of department is to enhance the global environment with philosophical exchange rooted in classical and contemporary traditions.
Mission
The mission of the department is to make the students acquire actual knowledge about the life and the world and to satisfy their intellect. Philosophy demands a rational explanation of the universe. Moreover, ethics is one of the most important branches of Philosophy which tries to raise moral values in the mind of the human being. It is our constant endeavour to:
- Nurture the intellectual climate among aspirants and scholars interested in Philosophy by embracing trans-disciplinary perspectives.
- Uphold the moral values among the students for perfection of their characters. For true education is not possible without perfection of character.
- Motivate the youth through the teaching of great men like Buddha, Swami Vivekananda etc. Their teaching and scriptures are value centric and the source of inspiration for the youth where Philosophy, Religion and Morality are related to each other.
- Study of ethics should also lead the students to respect opposing views, which is very essential for a student of Philosophy, because it requires analyzing carefully the arguments that support views contrary to their own. The department works as a catalyst to inspire the students in imbibing social responsibilities and ethical values.
