About The Department
Year of Establishment: Academic Session of Affiliation - Honours(1994-1995), General(1981-1982)
Brief History of the department
Parimal Mitra Smriti Mahavidyalaya was established in 1985 in Malbazar, Dooars region with the objective of realizing the dreams of a bright future of the youth of this region. The college has been continuously active and conscious to fulfil this objective. From time to time, departments of new subjects were established so that the youth could study and teach according to their interest. In the same sequence, the Hindi department was established by the college in 2008. Being located between Dooars and tea gardens, the college experienced a good number of Hindi students from the first year itself. However, till this time Hindi was being taught only as an elective subject. Seeing the increasing number and interest of the students, it was decided to open Honours in Hindi subject and fortunately in 2012 the university gave permission to start the study of honours in Hindi subject. From 2012, along with elective, the study of honours in Hindi also started. This year the number of honours students was around 30. From 2012 to 2016, the department was run in a systematic manner by guest teachers. In 2016, a permanent teacher was appointed. Under the leadership of an Assistant Professor, SACT and guest teachers together have continuously taken the department to new heights and this work will continue in future as well. This department is not just a department but a family and all the students of this department are the members of this family, for whose bright future we are all determined.
