NCC

National Cadet Corps (NCC)

The National Cadet Corps (NCC) is the youth wing of the Indian Armed Forces with its headquarters in New Delhi, India. It is open to school and college students on a voluntary basis. It is a Tri-Services organisation comprising the Army, the Navy, and the Air Force. The cadets are given basic military training in small arms and drill. The officers and cadets have no liability for active military service once they complete their course.

Motto and Aim

“Unity and Discipline” is the motto of the NCC. In living up to its motto, the NCC has emerged as one of the greatest cohesive forces of the nation, bringing together youth from different parts of the country and moulding them into united and disciplined citizens.

The NCC in India was formed in 1948. It was raised in Parimal Mitra Smriti Mahavidyalaya on 27 February 1990 under the 61 Bengal Battalion NCC, Jalpaiguri, under the leadership of the then ANO Lt. Basudev Paul.

At present, the college has two platoons (4B & 4C) — 2XPL (SD & SW), which are being led by the ANO, Lt. Nitay Mahanto. The NCC has been a strong force in motivating capable students from underprivileged and vulnerable sections of the geo-social setup of our society.

Through discipline and service, the cadets strive to contribute positively to social dynamics and work towards building a better community.
