Policy

Preamble

In order to support Research Culture, Parimal Mitra Smriti Mahavidyalaya offers teaching and learning that fully protects the rights to inquiry, thought, expression, and publication. The College wants to foster a research culture among its faculty, staff, and students in order to foster scientific temper and research aptitudes.

By developing an institutional fund and plan for supporting their participation in research and related activities, as well as by providing the necessary resources and suitable facilities, it aids in the realization of the College’s vision and mission and helps to contribute to the development of the country.

Additionally, it seeks to guarantee that the College’s research endeavours adhere to all relevant laws and regulations as well as accepted guidelines and standards for the ethical and safe conduct of research.

Research Committee

A Research Committee constituted from the faculty members of the institute will adopt measures for promoting research culture and ensure the implementation of the research policy of the institution.

Aims & Objectives

  • Cultivating and encouraging each student’s scientific temperament and research skills.
  • Supplying the necessary tools and suitable spaces to enable the efficient conduct of research.
  • To achieve the vision and mission of the college and facilitate engagement in research-related activities.
  • Develop rules and procedures for providing research support and all other research-related activities.
  • Guide faculty members in effectively integrating research projects with curriculum implementation and enrichment activities.
  • Promoting interdisciplinary research and joint research projects across multiple knowledge domains, including collaboration with external agencies and experts.
  • Identifying, collaborating, and establishing linkages including MoUs with National / International / Government / Non-Government / Industry / Research organizations and local agencies to widen research opportunities, sponsorships, and funding options.
  • Encouraging and facilitating the publication of research work/projects in reputed academic journals.
  • Implementing schemes to support faculty who publish in peer-reviewed journals listed in UGC CARE, Web of Science, Scopus, and other reputed platforms, as well as writing books or book chapters.
  • Encouraging and facilitating presentation and dissemination of research findings through workshops, seminars, guest lectures, and academic events.
  • Listing a special publication page on the College website and maintaining dedicated Research and Publication Notice Boards / Digital Notice Boards.
  • Shelving publications in hard copy in a special library section devoted to faculty publications and maintaining an online repository.
  • Providing seed money (up to Rs. 5,000/-) for conference participation, including registration and travel expenses.
  • Promotion to Professorship based on years of service, merit, and quality of publications.
  • Preparing and implementing a research quality assurance mechanism to ensure conformity with standard quality specifications.

Quality Assurance in Research

Quality Assurance in Research (QAR) refers to all methods, tools, and resources used to ensure careful planning, execution, and oversight of research activities.

QAR typically focuses on:

  • Responsibilities of those involved in research
  • Transparent project planning
  • Training and competence of research staff
  • Facilities and equipment
  • Documentation of procedures and methods
  • Research records
  • Handling of samples and materials

Guidelines and protocols will be created and implemented to ensure adherence to the research code, quality assurance framework, and all relevant laws and regulations.

Research Policy Implementation Mechanism

  • Provide research facilities such as laboratory equipment, research journals, and research incentives.
  • Encourage and promote a research culture through workload remission and conference participation opportunities.
  • Encourage faculty to undertake collaborative research with other research organizations and industries.
  • Organise workshops, training programmes, and sensitization programmes to promote research culture.
  • Prepare budgets for facilitating staff and student research projects.
  • Approach national and international organizations to fund major and minor research projects.
  • Improve availability of research infrastructure to facilitate research.
  • Develop and implement a Code of Ethics to prevent malpractice and plagiarism.
  • Facilitate interdepartmental and interdisciplinary research projects.
  • Approach organizations such as UGC, CSIR, DST-SERB, DST, DBT, NATO, DRDO, and BARC for funding research projects.
